Genuine Morocco

The Opportunity

Genuine Morocco creates highly personalized, private journeys throughout Morocco. Its size is part of what makes the company special: travelers work with real people who know the country intimately and can shape an experience around their interests.

But in search, being small creates a very different challenge.

Genuine Morocco competes for visibility against global travel companies, booking platforms, publishers, and high-authority travel websites with enormous content libraries and marketing budgets. Trying to outrank them for broad terms like Morocco tours or luxury Morocco travel wasn’t a strategy.

We needed to find the searches where Genuine Morocco could become the better answer.

The Challenge

Traditional SEO would have started with high-volume travel keywords and optimized the site around them.

We took a different approach.

We analyzed Genuine Morocco’s search performance, including Google Search Console data, to understand what travelers were actually searching for, where Genuine Morocco was already appearing, and where there were gaps between search interest and the content available on the website.

Those gaps became opportunities. Instead of asking only, “What keywords should a Morocco travel company rank for?” we began asking:

What are travelers trying to understand before they choose Morocco, plan an itinerary, or select a travel partner and where does Genuine Morocco have something genuinely useful to say?

Finding Opportunities the Bigger Competitors Were Missing

Our research revealed interest around highly specific Morocco experiences, cultural events, destinations, seasonal travel, and practical planning questions.

For example, we identified search interest around Moroccan festivals and seasonal experiences that Genuine Morocco wasn’t yet addressing adequately on the website.

Rather than simply adding those phrases to existing pages, we built content around the traveler’s intent.

That included developing and expanding content around experiences such as the Valley of Roses and its annual Rose Festival, broader festivals in Morocco, destinations, cultural experiences, and the practical questions travelers ask while planning a trip.

But we didn’t stop with a blog post.

Where an experience made sense as part of a Genuine Morocco journey, we connected the informational content to actual itineraries and tour opportunities.

That created a path from:

Search → Answer → Inspiration → Itinerary → Inquiry

The objective wasn’t traffic for traffic’s sake. It was to attract people actively considering the kinds of experiences Genuine Morocco is uniquely equipped to create.

From SEO to AEO

Search behavior is changing, so our strategy expanded beyond traditional Google rankings.

Travelers increasingly ask complete questions of Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI-powered tools:

When is the best time to visit Morocco?

Is the Sahara worth visiting?

How many days should I spend in Essaouira?

Is Fes difficult to navigate?

Should I stay in a riad or a hotel?

For Genuine Morocco, those questions represent an enormous opportunity.

We developed an Answer Engine Optimization strategy designed to make Genuine Morocco’s content easier for both people and AI systems to understand, retrieve, and accurately represent.

That included restructuring and expanding frequently asked questions, strengthening page hierarchy, improving metadata and internal linking, evaluating structured data and schema, and creating concise, direct answers followed by deeper expert context.

Instead of creating content around keywords alone, we began creating a connected body of knowledge about traveling in Morocco.

Turning Firsthand Experience Into Search Authority

One of Genuine Morocco’s most valuable marketing assets wasn’t a keyword. It was Hicham.

Hicham is the person travelers experience Morocco with on the ground. He hears their questions, knows what surprises them, understands what they worry about before arriving, and knows which experiences tend to stay with them afterward.

We turned that expertise into an ongoing content series: Chat with Hicham.

Rather than generic travel articles assembled from search results, these pieces answer real traveler questions through the perspective of someone who actually guides people through Morocco.

Topics range from navigating the medina in Fes to deciding how long to spend in Essaouira, visiting the Roman ruins at Volubilis, understanding Moroccan festivals, and determining whether a particular experience belongs in an itinerary.

The approach strengthens several things simultaneously:

SEO through highly relevant long-tail search content.

AEO through clear question-and-answer structures.

E-E-A-T through identifiable firsthand experience and expertise.

Brand differentiation by introducing travelers to the people behind Genuine Morocco.

Conversion by allowing prospective travelers to experience the company’s expertise before ever making an inquiry.

Building an Ecosystem, Not a Collection of Blog Posts

Every piece of content has a job.

A festival article can connect to the destination where the festival occurs. A destination guide can answer practical travel questions. An FAQ can lead to a deeper Chat with Hicham article. An article about an experience can connect to a private itinerary that includes it.

We developed the strategy around an interconnected content architecture:

Travel Questions → Destinations → Culture & Experiences → Private Itineraries → Genuine Morocco

This internal structure helps search engines understand the relationship among topics while giving travelers a natural path through the planning process.

It also prevents the common SEO problem of publishing dozens of disconnected articles that generate impressions but never support the business.
