Non-Profit
Protecting Land. Powering Engagement.
Save Mount Diablo

Partner Since 2021

The Client
Save Mount Diablo is a conservation and advocacy nonprofit dedicated to preserving the Diablo Range in west-central California.
Through land protection, public policy advocacy, education, and trail programs, they protect thousands of acres while inspiring the community to explore and defend open space.
They are a mission-first organization with a loyal donor and volunteer base.
Their digital presence needed to reflect that strength.
The Challenge
By 2021, their website had grown content-heavy and structurally complex.
- Navigation friction limited content discoverability
- Donation pathways lacked clarity and momentum
- Staff relied on developers for routine updates
- Educational and ecological resources were difficult to surface effectively

Key Insight
Save Mount Diablo didn’t need a cosmetic refresh.
They needed a platform aligned with modern donor behavior and long-term sustainability.

The Opportunity
Conservation organizations live and die by engagement.
Every acre protected.
Every trail hiked.
Every plant documented.
The website had to do three things exceptionally well:
- Tell a compelling conservation story
- Drive donor and membership conversion
- Empower internal staff to manage content independently
Our Approach
We partnered with Save Mount Diablo as a long-term digital transformation partner not a one-time vendor.
Website Redesign • UX & IA • WordPress Development • Hosting & Maintenance
1. Strategic Information Architecture
We restructured the site around user intent:

Donors seeking impact

Volunteers looking for events

Community members exploring trails

Advocates following land-use issues
Clear pathways. Fewer clicks. Stronger narrative flow.
2. Story-Forward Design
We implemented a clean, modern interface that allowed high-value content to lead:

Large landscape photography

Clear impact messaging

Structured calls to action

Simplified donation experiences
The result is a visual experience that feels as expansive as the land they protect.
3. WordPress Platform & Database Integration
Built on enterprise WordPress, the platform includes:

Custom database integrations to showcase native plants and conservation data

Flexible content modules for campaigns and advocacy initiatives

Scalable architecture for ongoing land acquisition announcements

Secure hosting and performance optimization
Staff now manage content independently without sacrificing quality control.
4. Conversion Optimization
Donation architecture was redesigned to:

Reduce friction

Increase clarity of impact

Support recurring giving

Align design with donor psychology
Since launch, engagement and donation pathways have strengthened, creating measurable momentum for fundraising.
